NICKY HAYDEN'S CRIB

Got a phone call from Mark Cernicky from Cycle World last Thursday.

The next morning Matt and I met up with him at MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden's Orange County home. Nicky came back from an early morning workout and pulled up in a brand new black Ferrari and then it was on.

Nicky's race worn 2012 uniform.

Cernicky started the interview off in Nicky's garage.

That's actually his own custom Specialized bike - just one of Nicky's many endorsements.

Shot some b-roll around his crib. We first filmed with Nicky up at Laguna Seca a couple years ago with The ID Agency and Ducati. Dude has always reminded me of Jason Williams from the NBA - I think it's the Southern accent and the sort of irreverent charm.

We shot the rest of the interview out by the pool. Nicky and Cernicky have known each other forever so the vibe was really chill and they just talked a bunch of nonsense about bikes and races and tracks all over the world. They talk about specific corners of certain racetracks the way golf pros talk about holes on particular courses.

Dude was laced - Diesel, Ducati, Puma, Tissot, Oakleys, so many endorsement deals. Tough life :)

Shooting some backyard hoops, post interview. At one point one of Nicky's errant rebounds bounced into our bag of camera gear and sent some our Micro SD memory cards flying. He's a MotoGP champ - we told him it was no big deal.

One last behind the scenes shot. Don't be surprised if you see Matt and I pop up on the kid's Instagram account one of these days.

Shout out to Cernicky for bringing us out and to Nicky, of course, for having us over.

THE WHOLE CREW

Had a little Holiday company dinner recently.

Invited out everyone who works with us and Cloudless, from all over SoCal, and fortunately most of them were able to make it. We all met up and grabbed some sushi in Huntington.

Tye and Jeremy shoot for us and are students up at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. We tried, unsuccessfully thus far, to encourage them to drop out and simply work for us all the time.

The homie Rick, with Veronica.

Daly and his fiancee Vicky.

Obviously it's been a blessing to be able to do all of this and work with our friends. Very proud we've been able to build it to this point working entirely with people that we know and like and don't mind traveling or being stuck in the middle of nowhere with. Between us and Cloudless we've been fortunate enough to shoot an insane amount of projects this past year. And obviously it gets stressful and hectic at times, so it was definitely nice to get to sit down with everyone and celebrate and just enjoy it all a bit.

Petra and I.

Spellman, the programmer extraordinaire, and Sarah.

Wouldn't be a real company event without Ryan and Petra nerding out over some new photo gear.

Anyway, everybody at this table, from the guys who shoot with us to their girlfriends and wives who hardly ever see them, have sacrificed at some point to help us build this. All these guys have worked with us under some extreme and some sketchy circumstances - for long hours over weekends, or at times for hardly any money, or in the the back of a pickup truck in some foreign country in the middle of nowhere, but in the end it's definitely paid off. Thankful for the trust and dedication from all of these guys.

And shout out to everyone who couldn't make it - Shane, Chris, Jeff, Marc and Josh - we owe you dinner.

DE LA HOYA

Over the summer we did this quick shoot with The Golden Boy.

This was like a last minute type of deal - we got a call over the weekend and then ended up at this tiny gym, Classic Kickboxing, up in Pasadena on a Monday morning and had everything ready to go.

We filmed a couple spots for The Gary Group and Golden Boy Promotions - they all just consisted of Oscar reading scripts straight to the camera hyping up some upcoming fights.

Matt actually found a Teleprompter app and we loaded all the scripts, there were English and Spanish versions of each spot, into our iPad. Then I was able to control the pace and set up of everything wirelessly with my phone - so that part was sort of cool.

It was a nice project - short shoot and everything went smoothly. I think the spots ended up airing at the MGM and in Vegas over the summer.

Anyway, I was watching the Pacquiao fight over the weekend and remembered that I never got around to posting these. The fight Saturday was epic - everything was cool up until that one last second of the 6th round... oh well. Maybe now Floyd will step up (I doubt it though).

LA AUTO SHOW

Clocked out early last Friday and headed to DTLA.

My boy Rick and I walked the Auto Show. Was actually my first time at the show - they had a ton of like normal everyday cars and handful of cool ones.

Lexus always has some interesting concepts.

Gotta love Audi right?

Crazy headlights on a new Acura. Actually wasn't too big of a fan of these. Worst concept was from Infiniti though - they had a car with a grill that looked like a crystal bowl - had a picture but couldn't bring myself to post it.

New Mercedes G Wagon concept. This thing was huge, nothing beats G-shaped headlights.

Bimmer of the future.

And a couple Bentleys.

Ran into the 2011 Slam Dunk Champion in the Kia booth on our way out. Nice guy, humble, claimed he actually drives a couple Optimas in his garage. This is the kid who actually made the Clippers relevant for once - no easy task. Love the way this guy plays - reminds me of when Amare was young.

Saw Levi Maestro there hanging out filming too - small world.

WE'RE BACK

It's been a busy couple months.

There was a time when I updated this blog a few times a week. Recently we got sort of busy and the blogging fell off a bit. Don't panic. Nobizplan is back. Trust me.

Alright, so, some stuff we've been up to... We bought a waterproof housing for one of our 7D's. It was pretty insanely expensive and we'll most likely hardly ever use it but you never know - maybe we'll do some scuba vids soon.

Here's a sample test shot - Matt and Ryan took it out up at Jalama Beach recently.

Shot a few videos for Magellan along with the ID Agency. This was from a shoot for one of their GPS Fitness watches.

We filmed a guy from their product team doing everything from trail and track running to mountain biking. Matt threw some cool motion graphics over the top of this video and it came out pretty nicely - I'm sure I'll post it up here someday soon.

Then we shot another spot for one of Magellan's trucking GPS navigation units. We cast our boy Jordan Warren as the driver and got to film in this 18-wheel semi truck all over Long Beach.

Just filmed an interview and some concert stuff down in San Diego with this band Milo Greene. They were cool, very laid back. They actually just performed on The Tonight Show last week and said that Jay was really humble and cool with them. They sing stuff like this and a lot of their songs pop up on TV on Gray's Anatomy and places like that.

Most importantly, these showed up last week - courtesy of Undefeated's Cyber Monday sale. Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor collabs.

Anyway, like I said, Nobizplan is back so check back soon. In fact, to celebrate, Kanye just dropped the best remix of the year. Download the 'Ye and Rihanna "Diamonds" remix here. Enjoy.
